The seemingly almost tropical feel of the Kentucky landscape as well as the Falls of the Ohio riverbed holds a particular fascination for me. The relationship of the water to the earth, plants and trees is a constant source of change in this environment. I'm intrigued by the endless diversity of the vines, flowers, leaves; their shapes colors, and lines and the abstract possibilities they present. My paintings are often vertical in format and "person sized" to enhance the metaphoric relationship of human existence to the apparent struggles between these natural forces.
